Verizon's Free Year of Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Closes Soon, Here's the Real Math

A $263.88 streaming bundle is free with the right Verizon internet plan, but the fine print on cost and duplicate subscriptions matters more than the headline.

What’s actually on offer

Verizon is bundling ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ free for 12 months with select Verizon Home Internet plans. According to Cord Cutters News, the three-service bundle normally lists at $21.99 a month, which works out to $263.88 over a year, that’s the real dollar value Verizon is waiving if you qualify. After the free year ends, the bundle drops to $12 a month unless you cancel it.

Cord Cutters News says the promotion is closing soon, with Verizon listing an end date of November 4. If you want it, you need to sign up for an eligible Verizon Home Internet plan before then, this isn’t a standalone streaming deal.

The catch: you have to buy internet to get it

This offer only works if you’re also signing up for qualifying Verizon Fios or 5G Home Internet service. That’s the real transaction. Fios 1 Gig only qualifies at addresses where Fios 2 Gig or 5 Gig isn’t available, and the advertised starting price on 5G Home Internet Ultimate requires both AutoPay and an active Verizon mobile phone plan. Pricing and availability vary by address, so the “free streaming” math only pencils out if the internet plan itself is one you’d want anyway.

In plain terms: don’t switch internet providers purely to chase a $263.88 streaming credit. If the Verizon plan costs more than what you’re paying now, or doesn’t match the speed you need, you’re not actually saving money, you’re just moving where the cost shows up on your bill.

Who saves, who doesn’t

Households that are already shopping for new home internet and happen to live where Verizon Fios or 5G Home Internet is available stand to gain the most: free access to three popular ad-supported services for a year, then a modest $12-a-month combined price afterward if they choose to keep it.

People who already pay for Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+ separately need to actively manage those existing subscriptions. Cord Cutters News notes the Verizon bundle won’t automatically replace or cancel current subscriptions, so without action, you could end up paying for the same service twice. Switching may also cost you an existing promotional rate or free trial you’re currently using elsewhere.

It’s also worth noting what this bundle isn’t: the Hulu included is the on-demand plan, not Hulu + Live TV. There’s no live broadcast or cable-channel access here, so this isn’t a cord-cutting replacement for a TV package, just three on-demand, ad-supported apps.

What to do about it

  • Check whether Verizon Fios or 5G Home Internet is actually available, and actually a good deal, at your address before anything else.
  • If you already pay for Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+, cancel or pause those subscriptions once the Verizon bundle activates to avoid double-billing.
  • Set a calendar reminder near the 12-month mark; the bundle’s $12 monthly charge kicks in automatically unless you cancel.
  • Remember this is ad-supported, on-demand access only, it won’t replace a live TV or sports-streaming subscription.
  • If your current internet plan works fine and you’re not already planning to switch providers, the streaming freebie alone isn’t a strong enough reason to move.
