Editorial standards
How we source, check and correct what we publish.
Where our reporting comes from
We build stories from primary sources: company announcements and filings, official documentation, research papers, security advisories, and the hardware and software themselves.
Where we learn of something from a press release or another publication, we treat it as a lead and go back to the original source before we write. We do not republish press releases or wire copy as articles, and we do not rewrite other publications' reporting.
AI assistance and human review
Some of our reporting is produced with the assistance of AI tools. Every story is reviewed by a human editor against its original sources before it is published. Nothing publishes automatically.
We publish under the name of the publication rather than under individual bylines.
Reviews
We do not agree to copy approval, and we do not share scores or questions with a company before publication. Where a product was supplied for review rather than bought, we say so in the article.
The previous site
This domain published under different ownership until July 2026. None of that material has been carried over: it was assembled largely by rewriting other publications, under bylines that named no identifiable person, which is the opposite of how this publication works. Those addresses return a permanent "gone" response rather than being left in place to pad the site.
Everything published here dates from the relaunch onward and carries a named byline.
Images
Where we have a photograph, screenshot or official image of what we are writing about, we use it and we say where it came from.
Where we do not, we use a clearly credited library photograph as an illustration. These are labelled “Illustration” with the photographer's name, so it is obvious at a glance that the picture accompanies the article rather than depicts its subject. We will not present an illustration as though it shows the actual product, person or event - a picture that merely looks right implies something untrue.
All images are hosted on this site rather than loaded from elsewhere. Nothing on these pages is fetched from a third party.
Corrections
We will correct anything we get wrong, and say that we have. Corrections are noted on the article with the date rather than made silently. Send them to editor@nowiamupdated.com.
Independence
Advertising has no influence on what we cover. Sponsored material, if we carry any, is labelled as such and is not presented as reporting. Where we have a commercial relationship with a company we are writing about, we disclose it in the article.
