AMC+ Through Amazon Loses Shudder's Horror Library, But Not Your Bill, Yet

If you pay for AMC+ via Prime Video, your price stays the same but a big chunk of the catalog disappears November 19, 2026, here's what to check before then.

What’s actually changing

If you subscribe to AMC+ as an add-on channel through Amazon Prime Video, you may have gotten an email in mid-to-late October telling you that Shudder and Sundance Now content is being pulled from your AMC+ access after November 19, 2026. Your monthly price doesn’t change. You don’t have to do anything to keep paying what you already pay. You just get less for it.

AMC+ has long worked as a bundle: AMC’s own shows and movies, plus the full Shudder horror-and-thriller library and the Sundance Now indie/international catalog, all inside one subscription. For a lot of subscribers, Shudder was the reason to keep paying. Losing it quietly shrinks the value of the subscription without touching the sticker price, the kind of change that’s easy to miss until you go looking for something to watch.

Who pays more, who doesn’t

Nobody’s bill goes up because of this. That’s the good news. The less-good news is that some subscribers are now paying the same amount for noticeably less content, which is its own kind of cost, you’re just paying it in missing titles instead of extra dollars.

Crucially, this only appears to hit one distribution channel. Based on subscriber reports surfacing in an r/horror thread first flagged October 20, people who subscribe to AMC+ directly through AMC Networks say their Shudder access is untouched. AMC itself hasn’t made a public statement confirming the change for direct subscribers, or for people getting AMC+ through Roku, Apple, or a cable/satellite provider, so if you’re not on Prime Video, there’s no confirmed reason to worry yet, but also no official all-clear.

Why this keeps happening

Amazon has a pattern of notifying Prime Video channel subscribers about changes before the underlying content company says anything publicly. That’s worth remembering any time you’re subscribing to a “channel” through Amazon rather than directly: Amazon is reselling access, and the terms of that resale can shift on a schedule Amazon controls, not necessarily one the content owner has announced widely. It’s a reminder that where you subscribe, not just what you subscribe to, can determine what you actually get.

What to do about it

If you get AMC+ through Prime Video and care about the horror or indie catalog:

  • Check your account now. Log into Prime Video, look at your AMC+ channel details, and confirm whether the November 19, 2026 date applies to you.
  • Decide before the deadline. If Shudder is the main reason you pay for AMC+, you have time to watch what you want to watch, or to price out a standalone Shudder subscription instead.
  • Don’t assume you’re affected if you’re not on Prime Video. Direct AMC+ subscribers and those on other platforms haven’t gotten the same notice, and AMC hasn’t confirmed changes there.
  • Call before you cancel. If you’re unsure which version of AMC+ you have, contacting Amazon or AMC customer support directly is the only sure way to know what you’ll have access to after the date, and whether canceling now versus later changes anything about your billing cycle.

Nothing here raises your monthly cost. But if you’re paying for content you can no longer watch, that’s money not working as hard for you as it used to.
