T-Mobile's $30 Home Internet Deal: What It Actually Costs After the Fine Print
A new T-Mobile promo dangles $30-a-month internet and up to $200 back, but the discount depends on having a T-Mobile phone line, and the rebate takes seven weeks to land.
The headline number, and the catch
Starting October 15, T-Mobile is advertising home internet for $30 a month, but only if you already have a qualifying T-Mobile voice line and sign up for AutoPay. That works out to $360 a year, before taxes and fees, which aren’t included in the advertised price. If you’re not a T-Mobile phone customer, you won’t qualify for this rate, so the people who save here are existing T-Mobile wireless subscribers who haven’t yet bundled in home internet.
On top of the $30 rate, T-Mobile is throwing in one month of service as a bill credit, and running a separate promotion offering up to $200 back on select plans. The discounts apply across all three of T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet plans.
Two different products, two different deals
T-Mobile is actually selling two kinds of internet here, and it matters which one is available at your address.
5G Home Internet runs over T-Mobile’s cellular network and beams Wi-Fi into your house through a gateway box. It’s the product carrying the $30 starting price, the free month, and the up-to-$200 rebate. Real-world speed depends on signal strength, local network congestion and where you live, so the advertised price doesn’t guarantee a particular speed. T-Mobile does offer a 15-day money-back guarantee if the service doesn’t work out.
T-Mobile Fiber, available only in select areas, is a separate wired option. Right now it comes with its own promo: two months free plus a $100 virtual prepaid gift card for customers who switch to the Fiber 2 Gig plan. Fiber has three plans total, and the 1 Gig and 2 Gig tiers include a mesh Wi-Fi extender if needed, plus a router and installation. Taxes and fees are extra there too.
The rebate isn’t instant
The up-to-$200 cash-back offer requires filing a claim, and T-Mobile says to allow seven weeks for the rebate to show up. That’s nearly two months of carrying the full cost before the money comes back, worth factoring in if you’re counting on that $200 to offset a moving bill or new equipment purchase. Check the specific terms for your plan before signing up, since eligibility and redemption steps vary.
Why this is landing now
T-Mobile also came out on top among the three major wireless carriers in Ookla’s first-half 2026 mobile network rankings, winning Best Mobile Network and Best 5G Network. That’s a separate data point from the internet pricing, but it’s the kind of thing T-Mobile is using to make the case that its home internet, built on the same network, is worth a look, especially for households bracing for heavier streaming and video-call use over the holidays.
What to do about it
If you’re already a T-Mobile phone customer, this is worth a real look: check availability at your address, confirm you meet the voice-line and AutoPay requirements, and read the fine print on the rebate before you commit. If you’re not a T-Mobile customer, the $30 rate won’t apply to you, so get the actual non-promotional price in writing before you switch. Either way, use the 15-day guarantee as your test window, and set a calendar reminder for week seven to check on that rebate, cash-back offers like this one are easy to forget about until the deadline to claim has passed.
